Hello my name is Naseem Akhtar and welcome to my website. Just a small introduction about me and how I became passionate for complementary therapies. I am mother of 4 children. my career all began once my older 3 children went into full time education.
I was born in England in a small town called Blackburn Lancashire. I had discovered a passion for reflexology during her studies for an HND in holistic therapies at Blackburn College, England (2003). During the HND I quickly learnt how beneficial touch therapies can be.
I had my own personal experience with holistic therapies, during my course in Blackburn, during a demonstration on massage movements and reflexology. I happened to be the guinea pig for the class. During the demo on me, the tutor had picked up on many tension areas particularly during reflexology.
I remember that the following morning I could not get out of bed and felt ill. This was my first massage and reflexology which made me confused as why I felt this way before and decided to call my tutor. It was explained about the contradictions, and I seem to have most of them which included: feeling dizzy, weak, light headed as well as boils that had erupted on my face. I was told this was because I was out of balance and that by working on my whole body it had brought everything out to the surface. It certainly amazed me after hearing this. Running around at that time for 3 young chidren, work and general life pressure . I quikly learnt I was burnt out. After three days I felt revitalised and almost like a new person. Having experienced this, it made me fall in love with Reflexology and touch therapies.
Having moved to Edinburgh as a single parent with 3 children and a HND in holistic therapies, I wanted find work in this area, a trip to career adviser changed my life. I was asked if I would like to further study in complementary therapies. I knew I wanted to work or pursue a career in this field but never thought i would study further. studying with 3 children was last thing on my mind.
however I did, it was crazy time. now single parent to 3 children, absolutely new in Edinburgh. I graduated from Napier University, Edinburgh (2006) with a BSc in complementary therapies, specialising in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) reflexology on the face, feet and hands. offering this in Edinburgh part time for 20 years.
Further gained a diploma in hot stone and bamboo massage in 2015.
Over the years I realised clients benefited from face reflexology in many more ways than health issues. The feedback I received clients’ faces looked less stressful and it gave them a fresh look and some suggested it made them look younger. I was happy to hear the added benefits they had experienced even after only one session of a zone reflexology and loved this natural approach. This made me carry out further research into the zone theory and was interested in looking to find a natural therapy to enhance beauty – the idea was to have a facial facelift without needles. I looked into this zone theory reflexology by using the same principle as working with meridian lines. With my delight I came across a course called Zone facelift offered by the founder Ziggie Bergmon. Reading about the full course and using movements of reflexology it all made sense to me, and how I would be able to easily incorporate this within my therapies.
It was described as a “magical facial treatment combined with ancient and modern techniques such as Bergman Method using Facial Reflexology, and applying Japanese Facelift Massage, alongside using tools GuaSha Quartz Crystals, acupressure tool, Quartz roller. Rose wand crystal and Facial Cupping along with Native American healing herbs. Renowned for removing as much as 10 years of aging over a 12-week programme, Zone Face Lift can eliminate the use of dermal filler and Botox.
